He made his way from Dickson City to Edwardsville, where part of his mother's family was named "Pugh." It was there he met my grandmother, Katherine McLaughlin, of Plymouth. They were married and moved to Avondale Hill because the Avondale is where he secured work. He and Katherine had 10 children. He died at age 56, after having his leg amputated because of circulation problems from working the mines.
