Joseph S. Perkowski lived in Plymouth, PA, much of his adult life. He and his family built several homes on 2nd Street, from Nottingham Street to Reynolds Street.  They all lived in that area.  His parents, Stanley and Dominica, emigrated from Poland. His father was a dynamite expert who was key in blasting the tunnel through the mountain between Plymouth and Chase for the Jersey Dam, as well as blasting for coal mines. He worked at the Nottingham mines with his brothers and cousins as well as working at Larksville (Hudson Coal Company), where he almost died due to an explosion.  He worked in Sugar Notch at the colliery and breaker.  He died from miner’s asthma at a young age.
