John Kachur was my father in law.  His oldest daughter, Mary Ann Kachur, was my spouse.  She is deceased and buried in S.Hadley,Mass.  John is buried in Minersville with my mother-in-law.  John was a deep miner for a good number of years.  He was frozen in the mines during WWII.  He suffered from respiratory problems as a result and did receive his Black Lung pension.  His information can be found in the records at Schuylkill County courthouse.  He was a great man and proud to have been a coal miner.  What amazed me were the blue freckles that covered his face, a constant reminder of years spent in the mines.  He told me stories about his experiences and never did he complain. The work was dangerous and brutal.
