Worked as a miner for the Hudson Coal Company.  Killed in the mines on March 10, 1918.  His body was brought to his home in Larksville, Pennsylvania, on a wooden wheeled cart as was the norm.  He was 45.  His widow never received any compensation after his death.  She started to do laundry to earn a living.  The two older children in the family had to leave school and go to work, at first picking up and delivering the laundry for their mother. T he oldest child was 12.  There were 4 others.  The younger two were able to finish school.

Place & Manner of Miner’s Death:   Killed by a fall of rock in the mines. Not sure which mine but the local colliery was in Larksville off of Nesbit Street. Andrew's head was crushed and partially missing.
