Place & Manner of Miner’s Death:   Died in hospital at Fountain Springs, PA. He had been caught in a fall of rock in one of the collieries near Shenandoah, PA. After spending 18 days recuperating, he supposedly bled to death after he engaged in horseplay, which reopened his wounds. Because it was his fault, his family would receive no compensation from the colliery. But the suspicion was that he died of infection, for which the colliery would have had to pay some compensation. Death certificate says "rupture of Brachial Artery", but after 18 days...really??? Infection seems far more likely.
