Martin began working in the coal mines as a Breaker Boy by the age of 9, in 1878, and worked in the mines until the age of 29, in 1898. Martin started a new job as a machinist at Lehigh Valley Railroad, Coxton Yard, in Pittston, PA, and worked there for 39 years, retiring in 1937. They had 14 children, only 10 kids names are allowed here; I am adding the other 4 children here: 11th child - Dorothy M. Brown, born 2-4-1917; 12th child- Leonard Brown, born 8-16-1918; 13th child - Robert Brown, born 6-20-1920; 14th child - Eugene G. Brown, born 2-9-1922 .

Place & Manner of Miner’s Death:   At Home at 204 North Washington Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA. Died from a Cerebral Hemorrhage, due to Arterial Sclerosis, and Myocarditis.
